Sustainability Leaders Across The Globe

leadership Sustainability Leaders Across The GlobeWho do we listen to when it comes to Sustainability and environmental topics? Todays post will be about people that are leaders in Sustainability and to whom we listen to.

I believe there are people that make an even greater difference in our world and the Sustainability field then we do (and this should not sound negative as you are making a difference just by reading this). The purpose of this post is to list these people, Sustainability Leaders as I call them.

But as I do not know all the Sustainability Leaders across the globe (obviously!) I rely on YOU to suggest one or more individuals that you think is (are) Sustainability Leaders. Once we have more suggestions I will update the post accordingly.

Sustainability Leaders (in no particular order)

  • Prince Charles – The Prince of Wales, eldest son of The Queen and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He is renowed  for his charity and work on environmental topics.
  • David Suzuki – A Canadian science broadcaster and environmental activist.

How else is a Sustainability Leader? Please suggest one or more individuals you think are necessary to be listed here.

Viva La Vida

life Viva La VidaA great song from Coldplay (my favourite song at the moment) and the perfect sentence to describe my life at the moment. I am living life to the fullest and loving every moment of it.
How come? Well this week has really been a week where a lot of lose ends have started to come together, finally.

Loose End No 1: I have made the decision to develop the SustainabilityForum.com on my own and I believe I also found the right developer for the job. This is like a dream come true for me and I am pleased that I decided to not give up ownership that early in the developing stages although I was tempted.
No 2: I am now starting to build key relationships with some of the best conference and event organisers in the Sustainability field. We have arranged to work together on the SustainabilityForum.com. More information will follow in due course.
No 3: My negotiations with a German business partner ended in us finding common ground to work together. I am really looking forward working with him in the future. This will be a key relationship for the future of my business and our family.
No 4: This is a secret but this will again change in lot in our life if it goes according to plan. icon smile Viva La Vida

So all in all has it been a pretty busy week with a lot of results. I am anticipating that next week will not be as big as this one but that does not really matter. I now need to work hard to build on the developments and justify the trust placed in me.

All the best,
Fabian

Technology – The Important Role in our Sustainable Future

technology Technology – The Important Role in our Sustainable FutureThis topic has been bugging me for a while now so here is what I think. Our sustainable future will be relying on technology that we as humankind choose to invest in that we believe can save our planet. Not everyone has realized hat yet but technology is what we are good at so we need to find a way how to use it to secure our future.

That is why we need to use it more and encourage all sorts of investment that helps to promote the use of technology related to sustainability. We do not need faster cars, more flashy phones or the latest fashion accessory using high tech but we need to look to the following technology fields to make continuous progress if we are to move towards a more sustainable future.

Technology fields of importance (Wikipedia links for more information):

  1. Food Production: How can we feed everyone in a more sustainable way and avoid the injustice that millions people are dying of hunger on our planet?
  2. Transportation: How do we solve our current transportation dilemma?
  3. Environmental Technologies: Technology will be a key to minimizing our externalities as we only have one planet to use so environmental technologies need to be a focus.
  4. Renewable Energy: This is the only way forward lets not waste our time with Nuclear Energy
  5. Energy Storage: Once we invest more in renewable energy energy storage can be the key to avoiding energy peaks and lowering the costs of energy long term
  6. Collaboration & Communication: Communication is key to collaboration and collaboration is essential for our sustainable future. So lets use and embrace modern communication

Technology will help us to make progress on our path to a sustainable future but we need to remember one thing before everything in my opinion. We need to be very selective which technology to choose in the next few years. We only have one shot or maybe two at the most to get it right.
So let’s start with working together to promote the use of technology for our sustainable future.

Very Good Meeting And Another Nice Wedding

Our wedding yesterday was really fun but a little to long in my opinion. We came back very late or may I say early. But it was great to see a lot of our friends and be part of a classic German wedding for a change. Photos will follow once I am back in the UK on Tuesday.

The meeting on Thursday went really well. We had a good open and frank discussion of ways to work together. Something I expected and I wasn’t disappointed. I will reflect a little about the outcomes of this meeting and see where this leads me.

I will now get back to enjoy the weekend (although I love writing blog entries as you can see) but stay tuned for more updates. Next week will have another social media post as well as a CSR related entry.

Regards,
Fabian
