The Week In Review: New Clients and Popular Blog Posts

Well here we are again. Saturday and it is time form my weekly catch-up of the events in my business, etc.

I was very happy to stay the whole week in London in order to be able to catch-up on my emails and more after a week’s holiday in Crete. It is just amazing how much you can get behind if you are only out of contention (and emails) for a week. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the break and it was really needed in order to get the head free and switch to the next gear for the rest of the year. But I guess that is why the holiday season is there as nothing happens then and you can have peace of mind that you are not missing much. If you do holidays while everyone is working 100% you are bound to loose contention on many topics and developments.
Anyway. I am happy to report that I have finally concluded the talks with two “potential” clients to become clients. This means that I am pretty much booked out in terms of monthly consulting days for the next 6 months. This is great news and it will enable me to make for sophisticated plans for 2009.
The redevelopment of the forum is also going according to plan. I think we will have something to report and show before we all go on our Christmas holidays. Keep your fingers crossed.
I published three hopefully interesting posts on my blog this week.
Here are the titles including links:

I will be in Germany for most of the upcoming week at client meetings and then in Krefeld to catch-up with lawyers, advisors and some good friends of course.

All the best,
Fabian

Choosing The Right Domain Registry

domain name Choosing The Right Domain Registry

There are a lot of differences in terms of price, service and user friendliness when it comes to choosing the right domain registry. Domain names are easy to register but the devil in this case is in the price and service you get for your money.

I would like to provide you with some tips what to look for when are planning to register or move a domain name between registries.

What You Need To Look For

  • Price – Always have an idea what your domain name is going to cost you. The difference here is really in the domain extension you are looking to register. Popular .com names are usually not more then $11 for a year. Whereas .tv domain names are twice or sometimes three times as expensive to start with.
  • Size Of Registry – I would recommend avoiding a small registry to register your domain names. The reason is that they usually charge more for a registration and the likelihood of either being taken over or discontinued is quite high in such a tough market as the domain market. At the bottom of this post I have recommend three domain registrars.
  • User Interface – If you look at the possible registries you want to register your domain with always take a look a closer look at their website and if possible take a tour to see how easy to use the website is. This will give you an idea how user friendly their interface is and will give you an indication of much time you would need to spend making sense of the domain interface. This might sound trivial now but be assured that you can loose a lot of time and nerves over time if you do not find what you are looking for on their website right away.

Domain Registrars I Could Recommend

  • Moniker – Great user interface, very big and very competitive prices.
  • Godaddy – Very competitive pricing, market leader but with a very confusing user interface sometimes.
  • Enom -  Also recommendable. They do not really have any weak points.
