There are a lot of differences in terms of price, service and user friendliness when it comes to choosing the right domain registry. Domain names are easy to register but the devil in this case is in the price and service you get for your money.
I would like to provide you with some tips what to look for when are planning to register or move a domain name between registries.
What You Need To Look For
- Price – Always have an idea what your domain name is going to cost you. The difference here is really in the domain extension you are looking to register. Popular .com names are usually not more then $11 for a year. Whereas .tv domain names are twice or sometimes three times as expensive to start with.
- Size Of Registry – I would recommend avoiding a small registry to register your domain names. The reason is that they usually charge more for a registration and the likelihood of either being taken over or discontinued is quite high in such a tough market as the domain market. At the bottom of this post I have recommend three domain registrars.
- User Interface – If you look at the possible registries you want to register your domain with always take a look a closer look at their website and if possible take a tour to see how easy to use the website is. This will give you an idea how user friendly their interface is and will give you an indication of much time you would need to spend making sense of the domain interface. This might sound trivial now but be assured that you can loose a lot of time and nerves over time if you do not find what you are looking for on their website right away.
